Glenn Maxwell Miss India ODI Series Over Ankle Injury
Glenn Maxwell, the top Australian cricket player, has said that he might not play in the upcoming ODI series against India. He wants to make sure he’s completely fit for the World Cup in October. Maxwell hurt his ankle last year, and it got worse during a recent tour of South Africa.
Maxwell is an important player for Australia in the World Cup because he can bat powerfully, bowl well, and is an excellent fielder. But he hasn’t played for Australia since March this year when he was part of an ODI match against India in Mumbai. He also couldn’t play in the T20I series in South Africa, which Australia won 3-0.
“Glenn Maxwell Statement On Injury”
Maxwell shared that he still has pain and swelling in his left ankle. He had a metal plate put in his ankle after breaking his fibula in a strange accident at a friend’s birthday party last November.
I still want to play some part of that India series. But I’m not feeling any pressure on it. The selectors and the staff have been brilliant with me as well. They don’t want to put too much pressure on me to sort of set that date because they know they’ve got a bit of extra time before the World Cup. So instead of rushing it and probably putting myself a week or two behind, being able to give myself extra time and make sure we get through the whole tournament,”
We’ve probably just got to be a bit smarter going forward. Making sure that my preparation is a bit more managed, I think leading into a flight like that. I’m already back in the gym, so I’ll probably get back into full training this week, so it won’t be a long turnaround. It’s just knowing that I’m not over the hurdle of the original injury yet, Glenn Maxwell said.
“IND vs AUS 2023 ODI Scheduled”
Australia is scheduled to play three ODIs against India in Mohali, Indore, and Rajkot from September 22 to 27, ahead of the World Cup. Glenn Maxwell uncertainty for the India series highlights the importance of his recovery ahead of the World Cup. Australia Cricket fans alike hope for his swift return to top form.
