All-rounder Hardik Pandya Out of WC 2023: Prasidh Krishna In

In a recent announcement that has left Indian cricket fans disappointed, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that star all-rounder Hardik Pandya will be unable to participate in the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023 due to an ankle injury. This unexpected setback has prompted the inclusion of fast bowler Prasidh Krishna in the Indian squad.

The Ankle Injury

Hardik Pandya unfortunate injury occurred during a match against Bangladesh at the MCA Stadium in Pune on October 19. While bowling, he twisted his left ankle while attempting to stop a shot during his follow-through. This incident forced him to leave the field, and subsequent scans revealed ligament damage to his ankle. As a result, Hardik was sidelined and began his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

The Replacement: Prasidh Krishna

To fill the void left by Hardik Pandya absence, the ICC Technical Committee approved the inclusion of Prasidh Krishna in the Indian squad. Prasidh, a fast bowler, has played 17 One Day Internationals (ODIs) for India and has already proven his mettle. He holds an impressive record of 29 ODI wickets at an average of 25.58. He will serve as the fifth pace bowling option in the Indian squad, which already boasts the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Shardul Thakur.

India Into The Semi Finals

India’s resounding victory against Sri Lanka by a staggering 302-run margin earlier in the week solidified their spot in the semi-finals of the Cricket World Cup. The team’s impeccable record remains untarnished despite the absence of Pandya, with the talented roster displaying remarkable determination and skill on the field.
