Kane Williamson Set To Play Upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023
New Zealand cricket captain and star batsman Kane Williamson is all set to play in the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. Earlier this year, Williamson got a knee injury while playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL), but he has been working hard to recover. Now, he’s been named in the 15-player squad for the big tournament.
During the IPL 2023, Kane Williamson hurt his right knee when he tried to stop a six in a match between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings. It was a tough moment, and he had to leave the field right away. Many people thought he might not make it to the World Cup 2023.
But Kane Williamson didn’t give up. He worked hard to get better with the help of experts. He’s been practicing with the New Zealand Cricket team in England, even though he’s not officially playing in their matches.
“Kane Williamson Back ODI World Cup Squad”
New Zealand’s head coach, Gary Stead, is really happy that Kane Williamson is back and ready to play in the World Cup. He’s impressed with Williamson’s dedication to returning to the top level of cricket.
“Kane has applied phenomenal dedication to his rehabilitation and has been supported by a strong group of experts around him, He’s left no stone unturned in trying to get back to playing cricket at the highest level. We are delighted to be in a place to select him.”
“At the same time, he’s also kept perspective about his recovery and hasn’t wanted to rush or force his way back too early. As we’ve previously said, it’s great he wants to play cricket for New Zealand in the long term.”
“As we’ve said throughout this process we want to give Kane every bit of available time to aid his recovery. The World Cup is not a short tournament and we will continue to monitor his progress over the next month ahead of the first tournament match,” Stead said.
“ICC World Cup 2023, NZ vs ENG On Oct 5”
Kane Williamson is good at batting and plays a big part in New Zealand’s batting team. In the 2019 World Cup, he scored the most runs for New Zealand, even though they came in second place after a very exciting final match against England. He scored 578 runs with an average of 82.57, which is pretty awesome. He even made two centuries and was named the best player in the whole tournament!
On September 11, New Zealand will tell us who’s going to be on their World Cup team. Their first game is on October 5 against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
