Shikhar Dhawan Dream ODI XI for CWC 2023: The First Five
Shikhar Dhawan, a really good cricket player known for starting matches well, talked about his dream team for the Cricket World Cup in 2023. He said that if he could choose any players, he would pick five of them. Dhawan has played in three World Cups before and won one in 2011. He shared his choices on a show.
Dhawan, who is left-handed and has made three centuries in World Cups, chose two players from India, one from Australia, one from Afghanistan, and one from South Africa. Here are his choices and why he picked them:
Virat Kohli
Former India captain and one of the greatest batters of all time. Virat Kohli has played in three World Cups before and is ranked as the 9th best batter in ODIs. Dhawan chose Virat because he’s very consistent and can score runs in any situation.
Shikhar Dhawan said, “The first (picked) is Virat of course. He is the best batter in the world and has been scoring runs like crazy”
Rohit Sharma
Rohit has played in two World Cups, one in 2015 and 2019. He is ranked as the 11th best batter in One Day International cricket by ICC. Rohit Sharma is the person who opens the game with Dhawan and is currently the leader of the Indian Cricket team. Dhawan chose Rohit as his second favorite player. Dhawan talked about how Rohit has played in many important ICC tournaments and series.
Shikhar Dhawan said, “Rohit is a very experienced customer. He has scored lots of runs in ICC tournaments and bilateral (series) and he’s a proven player”
Mitchell Starc
Mitchell Starc has played in two World Cups, one in 2015 and the other in 2019. He is a really good bowler in one-day cricket and was ranked as the second-best bowler by the ICC. Dhawan chose Mitchell Starc as his third favorite player. Starc is from Australia and he throws the ball with his left hand. He took the most wickets in the 2019 World Cup, which means he got 27 batsmen out.
Shikhar Dhawan said, “Starc was one of the best fast bowlers in the world and could trouble any batter with his pace and swing. “I’ll go for Mitchell Starc as he is one of the best fast bowlers in the world”
Rashid Khan
Rashid Khan played in the World Cup in 2019. He is ranked 4th among the best bowlers in One Day International (ODI) cricket by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Another choice by Dhawan was Rashid Khan. He is a talented spinner from Afghanistan. He has taken 167 wickets in 89 ODI matches using his unique bowling style.
Shikhar Dhawan said, “Rashid would be very impactful in India and would take lots of wickets. “The fourth player will be Rashid Khan with his mystery action. I am sure he’ll be very, very impactful (in India) and will take lots of wickets”
Kagiso Rabada
Kagiso Rabada played in the World Cup in 2019. He is a bowler from South Africa and is ranked 7th in the ICC ODI Bowler Ranking. Dhawan chose him as his fifth pick. Rabada bowls with his right arm and has taken 137 wickets in 89 ODIs by using his fast speed and bouncy deliveries. Dhawan thinks Rabada will work nicely with Starc and make it tough for the batsmen with his speedy deliveries. Dhawan also said why he didn’t choose Shaheen Afridi, a left-arm bowler from Pakistan, even though Afridi is also a great bowler in ODIs.
Shikhar Dhawan said, “Shaheen Afridi, I wouldn’t take because then there would be two left-arm pacers, so I’ll go for Rabada. Rabada has that extra pace and extra bounce that is going to rush the batters”
Shikhar Dhawan, a well-known cricket player, shared his dream team for the ODI World Cup 2023. He picked five players – Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Mitchell Starc, Rashid Khan, and Kagiso Rabada – for their exceptional skills in batting and bowling. Dhawan believes these players would make a powerful team and perform well in the tournament.
